It’s funny how American politicians regularly threaten to bomb the beejeezus out of Iran, and yet Iran is the supposed existential threat to peace.

….and Iran isn’t anywhere near a strategically vital narrow sea that is used in transit for a large percentage of the world’s oil… a sea that can be mined very quickly, is within easy reach of shoreline missile batteries and hundreds of high speed gunboats.

No insurance company in the world will cover even one ship once the vessels start hitting mines or struck by missiles. No insurance = no shipping.

But little things like the world economy mean very little to our neanderthal Tea Partiers. A B-52 solves everything with them.

In the mind of the armchair warrior and the festering open sore that the GOP has become, civilian deaths are collateral and anyway they deserved it. That and the fantasy world of ours in which our “bombs” are so high tech, they only kill the “bad guys”. A high altitude carpet bombing would only kill bad guys. Laser guided miracles that pick out evil and snuff it. A.I. drones that are right out of Star Wars. Quick. Clean. ‘Merica. War is the last option to a sane person and society. Absolute last option. But to the Cargo Cult, war is SOP. Currency of the realm. They want and await the Cowboy. One more bankrupt Cowboy.

Ah Chicken Hawks, always straining at the leash to start a war, but never willing to deal the the reality of the consequences or actual fuck ups that always occur in a war.

Like say further destabilising the Middle East, causing a refugee crisis and taking pressure off ISIL by removing Iranian support and thus allowing them to cause even more damage. Plus what Rocky-in-Connecticut said, with a side order of War Nerd snark on the rather nasty effectiveness of anti-ship missiles. Of which are rather cheap and Iran has been stockpiling and would easily turn US Navy and civilian merchant ships into mass graves.
